Rates
The Valuer Generals Office provides valuations every 5 years, which are linked with Council's rate in the dollar. Council uses Gross Rental Value and Unimproved Value for its rating purposes.
The following methods can be used to pay your rates:
- In person - Campbell St, Cuballing between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Mail - PO Box 13, Cuballing WA 6311
- BPAY - Biller Code 332031 Reference: As per your BPAY reference
- Direct Deposit. Please contact the Shire Office for bank details.
Please use your Rates Assessment Number as your Reference.
Rate Instalments
Council gives ratepayers the opportunity to either make one payment before the 15th September, to be eligible for an 8% discount off the GRV, or instalments. Due dates for the 2023/2024 annual rates are as follows:
- 1st Instalment - 29th September 2023
- 2nd Instalment - 29th November 2023
- 3rd Instalment - 29th January 2024
- 4th Instalment - 2nd April 2024
Objection To Valuations
Ratepayers may object to the valuation of a property within 42 days of date of issue of the rates notice. To object to a valuation you must lodge an objection in writing to the Valuer General's Office. Forms for this are available from the Shire Office.
Pensioner Cards
Pensioner Concession Cards (PCC); or State Concession Card (SCC); or State Seniors Card (SSC) together with a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC), or Seniors Card only.
To claim a rebate the rates must be paid by 30 June 2024. Please note that all other charges must be paid by the due date of the rate notice. Pensioners already registered need not reapply.
Note: Rural Pensioners need to complete a Pensioner Form every year.

Emergency Services Levy (ESL)
The Emergency Services Levy is a State Government compulsory charge collected by all local governments on all Rates Notices.
The ESL funds WA's emergency services to respond to building and bush fires, road crash rescue, hazardous and toxic material spills, storms, cyclones, floods, earthquakes and tsunamis, searches for missing persons, and cliff and cave rescues.
